Recent drawings and paintings in three styles, depicting Dumfries & Galloway

The July programme continues with a joint exhibition of paintings by three local artists.

Richard Brinley had a studio in Kirkcudbright for many years, but has now moved to Gatehouse-of-Fleet.

Ross Fulton is an artist based in Kirkcudbright who holds regular art classes at Kirkcudbright Galleries.

Jenny Fulton is a local artist who makes paintings drawn from nature.

The Borgue Collective returns to the Harbour Cottage Gallery in 2026.

The Borgue Collective is a group of artists and makers, all of whom have some past or present connection with Borgue village.

This year, the collective is joined at the Harbour Cottage Gallery by two guests: PJ Neal (mixed media) and DAGFAS award-winning artist, Christine Atira Pauly (Paintings and mixed media).

Luce Artists are first-time visitors to the Harbour Cottage Gallery in June.

Call for Artists

The annual Harbour Cottage Gallery Open Exhibition will take place between 27 July & 8 August 2026.

Would you like your art work to be on show at the Harbour Cottage Gallery?

The annual Open exhibition is for all artists who use a wide range of techniques, including painting, drawing, print-making, photographic and digital art, and mixed media.

Artists new to the galley and to exhibiting are always very welcome.

If you are interested in taking part, you can download the invitation which provides full details by clicking here and the artwork form by clicking here, or you can pick up paper copies of these from the Harbour Cottage Gallery.

You can download the “Call for Artists” poster from here. You can print this, distribute it by email or post it on social media to help publicise the exhibition.

In a change from previous years, the total number of accepted entries has been limited to 80 plus reserves. These will be accepted on a first-come-first-served basis, so if you want to take part, please make sure you get your entries in sooner rather than later.

The deadline for applying this year is 16 July 2026.

This year, the Harbour Cottage Gallery is holding a Spring exhibition of work from invited artists and makers.

The exhibition will have a varied selection of painting, drawing, and photography as well as jewellery and woodcraft from local makers.

The middle weekend of the exhibition coincides with the Spring Fling open studios weekend.

The Kirkcudbright Craft Association returns to the Harbour Cottage Gallery in May.

Annie Butler grew up surrounded by Cumbrian salt marshes and now lives near Carrick on the Galloway coast.

In the last year she has walked, sketched and painted as much of the water’s edge as she could … on both sides. You can see the resulting sketchbooks, paintings and cyanotype prints in this, the first of two exhibitions, one on each side of the Solway.

Scott McFarlane will be in the Harbour Cottage Gallery from 12th to 25th April.

His exhibition is entitled “Galloway Landscapes” and includes mixed media, paintings, drawings and prints.
